My new discovery....

There it was, so fat, and round,
Sitting still, without a sound.

It did not move. No, not an inch.
It did not even poke or pinch.

I did not like the looks of it, though the smell was not too bad.
I thought it was a fun new toy, and gave a bark so glad.

They said "No Noise, sweet Ellie May, that's not a toy for you to play".
"at the market they were sellin', that toy you think, is a watermelon!"

A note from Meagan:
The poem is true. Ellie did shy away and bark at the watermelon that mom and Collin brought home from the grocery store. What's funny is, she saw us bring it in and Collin carrying it around telling everyone to feel how heavy it was. But for some reason once she saw it on the floor, she just had to bark at it!
We then proceeded to roll it around and have her get used to it. She must have thought it was some sort of over-sized kong toy, because she'd paw at it, bump it with her nose, lick it. You know, dog stuff.
As you can see from the picture, Ellie is just fine with it now. Exposure to watermelons...check.
Ellie May is such a funny girl! She continues to amaze me everyday at what little things she notices. Some things are ants, flies, gnats, those annoying love bugs, water dripping, my necklace or long earrings (ouch!), zippers, a stain on the floor , cracks in the concrete, toddlers with blinky shoes, any movement on TV, a string blowing in the wind...forget the balloon tied to the other end, the string in more interesting.
I love my sweet Ellie May :o)

Today's the day!

Ellie turned 6 months today! Boy does the time fly. It seems like just yesterday I was sending in Ellie's 4 month evaluation!

In honor of her 6 months, I'll share 6 things about Ellie:

1. Ellie is loosing her puppy fur! It's funny to see what pattern (or if any) her hair it taking on. She loks like a cow gave her a bath with all the cow licks she has! Her light butter-cream colored hair is turning a pretty auburn color....she matches our floor!

2. Ellie is probably the most sensitive puppy I've raised. She is sensitive about the tone in my voice, the way I walk, the way I praise her, and the way I play with her. It's actually really neat because I am learning how to correct and praise her in a unique way that only she can understand! If something startles her, or she starts getting a little nervous in big crowds, she'll look up at me and expect a happy, excited tone which I give her and she calms right down! With my other dogs, they didn't seem to care about my tone of voice....It's so cool how every dog is different!

3. Ellie responds so well to kids! Kids even as young as 5 years old, can tell her to sit, stay, throw a toy and all her attention is on the kid! Talk about impressive! :)

4. Ellie's favorite kind of toy is one that fits into every nook and cranny of her huge monster mouth. For comfort I give all of my new puppies a big stuffed animal (to represent the mound of squishy, warm, goodness of litter mates sleeping on top each other) to sleep with. But Ellie, much prefers to carry it around.

5. Ellie's favorite position to sleep in is what my family calls "turtle dog"...

6. Ellie's most favorite "cookies" are 'Pumpkin and Banana Fruitables dog treats'. These delicious treats were given to us by Ellie's sponsors!

When a puppy turns 6 months old, puppy raisers can then put on the most amazing collar....the choker collar! Choker collars teach the dog not to pull too hard and if they do, the correction is a quick "pop and release" of the collar. Some people think it hurts the dog. It can, but when used properly there is no harm to the dogs neck. Look how grown up Ellie May looks in the choker collar!

Happy half birthday my sweet Ellie!!!

I'm home!!!

Wow, I had such a fun week!! Let me tell you all about it...

Meagan dropped me off at my puppy sitters house on Tuesday afternoon. I played and played with Tenshi and Cody.....
Me, Cody and Tenshi

Then we crashed....
We dogs are not allowed in the kitchen, but every now and then, we would sneak in to see if Mrs. Lingertot dropped any food while she was cooking....once she saw us sneaking in, she'd yell "Get out of the kitchen!" and we run out and sit just like this....it was a fun game :)

My week was full of new adventures, exposures, outings and smells! I saw garbage men up-close, was blessed by the sitters preacher, checked out a storm drain, went to all kinds of stores, went to choir with Mrs. Lingertot, listened to a thunderstorm (Tenshi doesn't like those loud things so I was able to show her not to be afraid!), played and romped with Tenshi, chewed on Cody, swapped toys with Cody everyday, and had an awesome time!!!

Meagan had a good time in Kansas. She flew up for her friends graduation. She said she missed me and her family.
Meagan picked me up 3 hours after her flight got in....I guess she really did miss me!

This coming Sunday I turn 6 months!!! Meagan will have a very special post then :)

Super fun week coming up!!

This weekend, I am going to the Boose's house for a sleepover! Our group is having a puppy meeting on Saturday, but Meagan can't take me, so I get to go with someone else. I love Mr. and Mrs. Boose. They have lots of toys that all their puppies used, so that makes playing with them even better!

This coming Wednesday, Meagan is going out of town all by herself. I sure am going to miss her!
But the super fun part is I get to stay with the Lingertots while Meagan is gone.
They are an elderly couple who LOVE Golden Retrievers. They have two very large Goldens of their own. Tenshi, likes to mommy me and bring me toys when I am on my tie down, and Cody is a lot of fun to goof around with....we steal each others toys a lot.
I can't wait to go to their house! I promised Cody I would bring my most favorite bone to share.

Well it's my nap time....see you later!
